We played games: Car Hop Relays, Paper Dance Off, Bubblegum Blowing Contest, Contest for the Cutest Couple, Oddest Couple and then the crowning of Ms. 1950 and Mr. 1950!! It was such a fun time and the photos only provide a glimpse of the good times!

Back to the 50's!
Last weekend, we went back in time....back to the 50's!!! What an awesome time we had...we snacked on foods popular in the 50's: Cheese Whiz, Ritz Crackers, Chex Mix, Moon Pies, RC Colas, Rootbeer Floats, Mary Janes and more. Of course, we had to play a little between snacking...what a sight to see us with paddle balls, yo-yos, Silly Putty, Slinkys, Jacks, WoolyWilly, Checkers and Bubbles!!

Love Me Some Mardi Gras!!!
I told you it's been party time around here this month!!! Our HOG Chapter celebrated Mardi Gras...Fat Tuesday last week. Doing theme activities is something I love and last week was no exception. Amazing what a little purple, green and yellow will do to brighten up a meeting...never mind sparkly masks and some strings of beads!!! Here's a peek!!!

Polar Bear Ride 2012
Yep, on January 1st we did it again...the annual Polar Bear Ride was a go for our H.O.G. Club. We had a large group of motorcycle riders again this year...I didn't count bikes but I'm estimating we had about 35+ bikes and over 50 people. I rode with Harley Man this year and the weather really wasn't "polar"...it was around 55 degrees.
Once again we descended upon Denton, NC to eat at The Classic Restaurant....so did everybody else in the surrounding area!!! LOL! We had our traditional southern meal....ham, fat back, turnip greens, blackeyed peas, cornbread, banana pudding and more. In the South we eat these items for a reason: pork for progress; greens for prosperity, blackeyed peas for good luck!!!
We had a wonderful time full of food, fellowship, fun and of course.....riding!!

Christmas Means....
Wonderful people inspired to help others during this "Season of Giving". There is nothing better than slowing down and remembering how blessed I am: a wonderful family, great friends, a warm cozy home(even if it's in total disarray at the moment), food in the cabinets and fridge, cloths for all types of weather, love and laughter and so much more.
Why the slowing down...well, there are so many who don't have these things and I was reminded of this once again as our Harley Group spent part of Saturday at a local Children's Home. There is no greater gift I could receive than the opportunity to gather with a group of friends all wanting to do a little something to benefit 42 children. We took gift cards and goody baskets to these children to let them know they are not forgotten. What a way to spend a Saturday!!
Thank you my Harley friends for also slowing down and participating in this event! There are 42 children who now know someone cares.

Miscellany Monday-Round 2
- Whew....another busy weekend completed!!! Harley Man and I enjoyed participating in the Salisbury H.O.G. Chili Cook-Off and Dessert Bake-Off this past Saturday!! Even though setting up was during a pretty "chilly" (no pun intended) time of the morning, the day turned out to be a success. Our friends Vickie and Keith won the trophy for the Chili Cook-Off! Great food, lots of fun and plenty of fellowship was had by all who attended the event!! Oh...I won the trophy for the Dessert Bake-Off...can you believe that!!!! What did I make??? Why Red Velvet Cake Balls..of course!!!
- My niece, Merv, is getting ready to be deployed to Afghanistan and we were fortunate to be able to visit with her Saturday afternoon and evening! Merv came home for a little R&R with her family. We had a blast!!! Lots of laughing and picture taking with the family!!! We all love Merv dearly and will miss her so much!
- Did you watch the NASCAR race Sunday??? Now I am by no means a die hard fan but I must say it was an awesome race!!!! Kudos to Tony Stewart and Carl Edwards for a hard fought race!! Way to go, SMOKE!!! Congratulations on winning the 2011 Championship!!

- While visiting with Merv, my wonderful SIL made a yummy dinner and dessert. Have you tried Pumpkin Cream Cheese Dip? If not, you are missing a delicious treat. Hopefully, SIL will share her recipe with me and then I'll share it with you!!

I Love Dressing Up!!!!
Halloween is just around the corner!!! What I love best is the opportunity to dress up...become a character for the day....revert back to being a child!!! Lol!!! Just doesn't get any better than that!!
Over the years I've managed to find some pretty great costumes and before Halloween became politically taboo for schools, I dressed up for my students!!! During those days I became a witch, Raggedy Ann, a unicorn, Tigger, a Gypsy, a Candy witch, Clifford the Big Red Dog, an M&M, Dorthy....you get the idea!!
In recent years, we've been to Halloween parties for our Harley Owners Group...I even managed to get Harley Man to dress up (quite a feat I must say). There's nothing better than being with friends who love to dress-up as much as I do!!! Alas, this year we won't be celebrating at a Halloween party..instead we'll be joining in the "Tourpak or Treat" I mentioned in my post yesterday. So I've been searching for just the right costume to wear while delivering those treats to young and old. Part of dressing up means finding just the right makeup to complete the costume!!!
I stumbled upon Kandee Johnson, a professional makeup artist and I think she does an awesome job. Wish I'd found her site some time ago!!! So...today I wanted to share that source with you because.......Halloween is just around the corner, folks!!!!!!!!!! What are you going to be dressing up as this Halloween????????????
