Harley Halloween Highlights!

The Spook-tacular and "Tourpak or Treat" was a success!!!  Never mind it was sooooo cold and windy...the children came trickling in all day long and we all had fun!!!! 

There were great costumes...both young and old,

Pumpkins carved that sat in the cold,

Pinata time for the brave and bold,

Cycles decorated all in a row!!!

One Of "Those" Fridays..LOL!

Ever had one of "those" days????  Well, that's my day today and I needed a little laugh.  Now not being one to whine, I won't go into any details other than to say....Arrggghhh!!

So...I opened my email and found this today!  Just thought I'd share....hope you aren't having one of "those" days but if you are....hope this makes you smile!!

Four Worms in Church

A Minister decided that a visual demonstration would add emphasis to his Sunday sermon. Four worms were placed into four separate jars.

The first worm was put into a container of alcohol.

The second worm was put into a container of cigarette smoke.

The third worm was put into a container of chocolate syrup.

The fourth worm was put into a container of good, clean soil.

At the conclusion of the sermon, the Minister reported the following results:

The first worm in alcohol ... Dead.

The second worm in cigarette smoke ... Dead. 

The third worm in chocolate syrup ... Dead. 

The fourth worm in good, clean soil ... Alive .

 
So the Minister asked the congregation,

"What did you learn from this demonstration?"


Maxine was sitting in the back and quickly raised her hand and said, 

"As long as you drink, smoke and eat chocolate, you won't have worms!" 

That pretty much ended the service !!

Treats!!

Since I seem to be on a Halloween theme this week, I decided to share some quick and easy treats you can make for your children at home, school or on Halloween Day!!

Creepy Popcorn Hands from Aunt Nubby's Kitchen  I've done these at school and the kids love them!!!   1. Assemble supplies you will need - plastic food service gloves, popcorn, candy corn, ribbon, and spider rings. 2. Pop the popcorn, either microwave popcorn or the old fashioned way, it's up to you. 3. Insert one candy corn at the end of each finger to represent fingernails, then begin to stuff the plastic glove with popcorn. 4. After the glove is full of popcorn tie some colorful ribbon at the top to close it. 5. Last, put a plastic spider ring on one of the fingers and you are done! Halloween Snack Mix from Easy Appetizers What you’ll need:- 10 cups of popcorn (popped) - 1 package of peanut butter chips - 1 cup of chocolate chips - 1 cup of candy corn - add some pretzel sticks (optional) What to do: Here’s how easy it is, your jaw will drop when you realize all you have to do is: 1. Combine all the ingredients in a bowl and mix together. Scardey Cat Marshmallow Pops from The Seven Year Cottage Ingredients: Marshmallows Lollipop sticks 1/4c. white chocolate chips Candy corn Chocolate almond bark M&M Mini’s Rips Whips Styrofoam rectangle Narrow ribbon Insert one lollipop stick into the center of each marshmallow and set aside. To make cat ears, cut the tips off of candy corn, they should be about 1/2″ tall. In a small bowl, melt white chocolate chips and use to adhere two candy corn tips to the top of each marshmallow. Stand pops upright in Styrofoam rectangle until white chocolate has set up completely. Melt almond bark according to package instructions. Dip marshmallow pops into warm candy coating. Allow excess to drip off before returning to foam base to dry. Transfer all remaining chocolate to a small, shallow bowl and cover with plastic wrap. After candy coating on marshmallows has hardened, remove the plastic wrap from the leftover chocolate and reheat until liquid again. Dab a little bit on the backs of colorful candies and quickly attach them to faces to form eyes and nose. For whiskers, separate the yellow licorice strands and snip into short pieces with kitchen shears. Use a clean pair of tweezers to dip the tips into melted chocolate, then apply to both sides of cat nose. You may need to hold them in place for several seconds until secure.

I Love Dressing Up!!!!

Halloween is just around the corner!!!  What I love best is the opportunity to dress up...become a character for the day....revert back to being a child!!!  Lol!!!  Just doesn't get any better than that!!

Over the years I've managed to find some pretty great costumes and before Halloween became politically taboo for schools, I dressed up for my students!!!  During those days I became a witch, Raggedy Ann, a unicorn, Tigger, a Gypsy, a Candy witch, Clifford the Big Red Dog, an M&M, Dorthy....you get the idea!! 

In recent years, we've been to Halloween parties for our Harley Owners Group...I even managed to get Harley Man to dress up (quite a feat I must say).  There's nothing better than being with friends who love to dress-up as much as I do!!!  Alas, this year we won't be celebrating at a Halloween party..instead we'll be joining in the "Tourpak or Treat" I mentioned in my post yesterday.  So I've been searching for just the right costume to wear while delivering those treats to young and old.  Part of dressing up means finding just the right makeup to complete the costume!!!

I stumbled upon Kandee Johnson, a professional makeup artist and I think she does an awesome job.  Wish I'd found her site some time ago!!!  So...today I wanted to share that source with you because.......Halloween is just around the corner, folks!!!!!!!!!!  What are you going to be dressing up as this Halloween????????????

Second Annual Spook-tacular Saturday

Before you take the kids out trick-or-treating on Halloween, make a trip to Tilley H-D and get some candy for yourself. The annual Spook-tacular Saturday will be loads of fun for everyone!!

Trunk-or-Treat? No...we Tourpak-or-Treat!!
The "Tourpak-or-Treat" will be open to the public this year so you don't need to be a member of the Salisbury H.O.G. Chapter to dress your bike up. Decorate your bike in spooky style and hand out candy for the kids, big and little. The "Tourpak or Treat" will start at 10 a.m. and run until 3 p.m. 

Best Costume Contest!
Dress up as your favorite movie character, your creepiest ghoul or goblin or whatever you like. The Best Costume Contest will be for kids and adults...so dress up the little ones and let them join in the fun. The contest judging will be at 11 a.m. and awards will be presented at 1 p.m.! The contest categories will include: Ugliest, Best, Funniest, Scariest, Best Couple and Most Original for Adults. Best, Funniest, Cutest, and Scariest for kids.

Pumpkin Carving Contest!
Bring your pre-carved pumpkin from home and enter it into the contest. The contest will be judged at noon and the awards will be presented at 1 p.m.! Be creative and most of all have fun.

DJ Fast Freddie
Favorite local DJ will be here spinning some Spook-tacular tunes for you during the festivities.

Food and Drinks
"To-The-Point" Dance studio will be here with hot dogs and drinks will be provided by Cheerwine during the festivities.

Corn Hole Toss!
For all of you who love to play corn hole, we will have the boards set up from 10 a.m. til 3 p.m. for games so come out and try your luck and win some prizes.

Pinata!
There will be a pinata for a chance at some extra candy for the kids at noon.

Rubber Ducky Gamble
Try your luck for a prize in the Rubber Ducky Gamble from 10 a.m. til 3 p.m.!!

Mark your calendar for Saturday, October 29th, at Tilley Harley-Davidson of Salisbury. Music, Food, Fun and Excitement for everyone! This is a family friendly event (so please keep that in mind when choosing your costume). 

It's Food Friday, Again!

I found a really easy appetizer you can make for parties, tailgating or just because!  It's a recipe from Weight Watchers...so that is an added bonus!!

Salsa Roll-Ups

Ingredients:
4 oz. (1/2 of 8-oz. pkg.) Philadelphia cream cheese, softened
3 Tbsp. your favorite salsa
4 flour tortillas (6 inch)
1/2 cup Mexican style 2% milk finely shredded cheese
1/4 tsp. chili powder

Directions:
Mix Philadelphia cream cheese and salsa; spread onto tortillas.
Top with remaining ingredients.

ROLL up tortillas tightly. Cut each crosswise into 5 slices

Makes 10 Appetizers (2 little roll-ups per serving)

Kim, over at Millie's Mats, had a question for me last week:

My question is: How can you lean into the turn on a bike? Lol.

I am a terrible passenger.

I just can't do it. As soon as the bike leans, I automatically lean the other way.

No wonder no one will take me riding! Lol

I went to Tips for the Motorcycle Passenger to give you an idea of what to do as a passenger:

"Being a passenger on a motorcycle means being aware of what you need to do to help the motorcycle driver.  As a passenger, you don't really lean into the curve, the driver does.  So when you get on back, place your hands on the hips of the driver until you really get use to being a passenger.  Motorcycles turn by leaning (banking like an airplane), not by steering like a car. So don't be alarmed when the motorcycle leans over to go around a corner. To position yourself perfectly for a turn, just look over the rider's shoulder in the direction of the turn. If the motorcycle is turning right, look over the rider's right shoulder; if it is turning left, look over the rider's left shoulder.

You don't have to do anything else; looking naturally over the rider's inside shoulder will automatically put your weight right where it belongs in a turn. Keep your body in line with the rider's body to prevent the motorcycle from leaning more than the rider intends. (When going straight, it doesn't matter which shoulder you look over.) Never lean out of a turn; you could cause an accident that way, which is another big no-no."
